The Opportunity
The Specialist, Storyteller and Content Creator will humanize the issue of hunger by capturing and elevating stories of people with living and lived experience of hunger and telling their stories with dignity. This Specialist will travel frequently (20-40%) and this is a fully remote position.
Salary Range: $60,000 to $75,000+ Based on Experience
Responsibilities:
- Responsible to gather stories of neighbors facing hunger, community centric, volunteer and food bank stories (still photography and video assets) that will be used primary across Feeding America’s marketing channels and leveraged by other content creators across the organization.
- Collaborate with Content producer to plan and schedule all the shoots for the year based on strategic priorities.
- Ability to collaborate with external creative partners to coordinate and oversee story collection and production of assets.
- Manage creative agencies & freelance resources who have proven to tell diverse stories using high-quality videos, images and other assets.
- Works closely with network food banks and their partner agencies to source and write stories, remotely and in-person.
- Ability to shoot, edit and create video content (2-3) for digital channels.
- Manage the storytelling request intake form to gather requests and leads that come from the organization.
- Contribute written content monthly to the Feeding America Hunger Blog.
- Maintain the digital asset management system: add assets, including metatags and descriptions for all produced content, to Canto, Feeding America’s online asset library
- Ensure all the photo/video releases and usage licenses are up to date for assets being created and added to canto.
- Keep track of best practices/examples in respect in storytelling, an input for evolving the storytelling program.
- Research and keep track of the up-and-coming digital tools to help with content creation.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Demonstrated successful experience documenting and telling real-world stories through interviews, video, photography, writing, graphics, etc.
- Demonstrated skill at writing and editing for a consumer audience (blog posts, website copy, social media content, etc.).
- 5+ years of experience in brand journalism or a related field, with demonstrated expertise at producing interesting, high-quality content that promotes consumer connection to brands.
- 2+ years of experience in interviewing people and telling stories through various digital channels
- Working knowledge of intermediate-to-advanced-level equipment (DSLR camera, video, audio recorder, microphones)
- Experience in using video editing software (image, audio and video, postproduction) is a plus.
- Prior food bank marketing/communications experience encouraged, but not required.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate and support larger marketing/communications efforts.
